Ryan Fraser has certainly stepped up to Eddie Howe’s metaphorical plate this season, and Bournemouth have shocked many by climbing into seventh place in the table, but eye-catching form can lead to the Premier League vultures, otherwise known as the top six, beginning to circle.
In Fraser’s case, Tottenham should be the ones to start looking at the Scotland international after the summer of inactivity in North London has left manager Mauricio Pochettino short of options.
Fraser joined the Cherries in 2013 from Scottish side Aberdeen, just after the club had been promoted to the Championship. Since then, his form has been reasonably steady, with single figures for goals and assists a regular occurrence for the left-winger.
If he can carry on the way he has started this season though, the 24-year-old will be on for his most prolific season ever. So far this year, Fraser has netted three goals in seven Premier League experiences while cutting in onto his favoured right-foot, with his pace causing huge problems for defenders – just ask Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire.
As well as goals, Fraser’s contributions to his team have massively increased. The four cap international has already provided two assists, just one off his total from the whole of last season. For whatever reason, he now looks like a creative winger that would be perfectly suited for a top six side, and he has averaged 2.7 key passes per game so far this term, an increase of over one per game on last season.

The 5ft 4in attacker is currently the first name on Howe’s teamsheet, but if the big guns come calling, Bournemouth could find it difficult to hold on to their current star man.
Valued at £5.4m by Transfermarkt, Fraser could represent a bit of a bargain for the North London club, and based on current form he would certainly provide strong competition for Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela in the Harry Kane support role.
Fraser is clearly in a confident mood and has averaged 0.7 more shots per game and more dribbles too. With Spurs still competing on four fronts this season, a January move from Daniel Levy would represent a very strong signing for Pochettino’s side.
