Rangers youngster Matthew Shiels will join Dumbarton on loan until January of next year and the Ibrox faithful are delighted.
The 18-year-old will be playing his football in the Scottish third tier having signed for Jim Duffy’s side, though he had been linked with a switch to Championship side Dunfermline earlier in the window.
Shiels will link up with Duffy as the former Dundee manager embarks on his first full season in charge of the Sons. The 60-year-old secured the club’s status in League One last season by finishing sixth.

The move is not surprising for Shiels, who has seen his pathway to the first-team blocked after a busy summer of transfers.
Steven Gerrard has brought in eight new faces in this window, two of which are defenders, George Edmundson and Filip Helander. Helander arrived at the club on Saturday in the biggest fee the Gers have paid since promotion back to the Premiership.
