Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist has cut Everton’s hierarchy some slack in their hunt for a new manager.
The Merseyside outfit dismissed Ronald Koeman just over three weeks ago and are yet to hire a new man.
Under-23s coach David Unsworth has taken the reins for the time being and he has thrown his hat into the ring for the permanent position.
Watford boss Marco Silva is believed to be a top candidate, with The Telegraph claiming that the Hornets have rejected a second offer worth £10m from the Toffees.
Sam Allardyce was also thought to be on the list of contenders, but the former Crystal Palace coach recently confirmed to talkSPORT that he has withdrawn from the running.

The recent international break would have given Everton the opportunity to ease in a new leader prior to the Premier League’s return.
West Ham United took that approach by hiring David Moyes just 24 hours after sacking Slaven Bilic.
The uncertainty over Everton’s managerial future remains, but McCoist thinks that chairman Bill Kenwright and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri are conducting the search in the best way they can.
The Scotsman said on talkSPORT:
“What they’ve got to do is get it right and if they appoint someone right now that’s fine, if they continue to take their time and get it right that’s acceptable. However, what isn’t acceptable will be getting it wrong.”
