Pogba is aiming to resume his career in 2025 after seeing his doping ban reduced. The midfielder's contract at Juventus has been terminated and so he will need to find a new club next year. Dimitri Payet has already urged Pogba to join Marseille, while former Juventus team-mate Adrien Rabiot has also invited the midfielder to head to the Ligue 1 club. Such a move would see Pogba reunite with former Manchester United team-mate Mason Greenwood, and club president Pablo Longoria has now spoken out about the continuing speculation about the World Cup winner.
WHAT MARSEILLE SAID
Longoria told a press conference: "At the moment, we are in a positive dynamic, so we do not want to change the balance that has been created in the team, especially in the last few weeks. A transfer window is a question of opportunities. There will be movement, some players do not have enough minutes for their liking. We made big investments this summer, we must be attentive to economic management too. We will seize opportunities if there are any, but while maintaining the balance of the group.
"Everyone talks to me about Paul Pogba! Paul is an extraordinary player, an extraordinary person, I knew him at Juventus. I was the first to be happy to see his sanction reduced. Medhi Benatia also has a very good relationship with him. Yes, we sent him messages because we were happy for him. When I was at Juve, he was a superstar, he finished third in the Ballon d'Or, and my friends asked me a lot of things and he always helped me. There are no advanced discussions. We will have an internal meeting this week for the transfer window objectives.
"On Paul, we have to analyse him. As a club, we always enjoy seizing opportunities, seeing great players play for us, for example with Adrien (Rabiot) or Hojbjerg. There are no discussions with Pogba, no meetings. I'm not closing the door, but it creates a lot of speculation. These are mostly dreams rather than a reality in the market."
