Charlton welcome Brentford to The Valley tomorrow afternoon, where they’ll be hoping to keep their unbeaten start to the season going.
Since winning the League One playoffs last term, Lee Bowyer’s men have enjoyed an excellent start to life back in the Championship with two wins and two draws from their first four games.
The Addicks impressed last time out against Nottingham Forest – with Lyle Taylor grabbing yet another goal to make it four from four – although a late Albert Adomah goal meant they only came away with a 1-1 draw.
Let’s take a look at who Bowyer could select to start against the Bees…
The south Londoners were very good against Forest, so we think that Bowyer will continue with the same XI who earned a point on Wednesday evening.
Deji Oshilaja, who started at right-back on the evening over Chris Solly, impressed the Charlton fans on Twitter with an excellent performance, so we think the 26-year-old will keep his place on the right of defence.
The midfield trio of Josh Cullen, Conor Gallagher and Sam Field worked well together, with Cullen’s dribbling and inventiveness proving effective behind the more advanced Erhan Oztumer.
As aforesaid, Taylor has already scored four goals this term and was a constant threat against Forest, taking two shots and scoring with his one on target, whilst also making a key pass.
Brentford haven’t enjoyed as good a start to the campaign as Charlton have, winning just one of their four games, although the Bees definitely shouldn’t be underestimated with quality players such as Pontus Jansson, Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma in their ranks.
We see no reason why Bowyer would change too much up given just how well his side have started this season, and the former Birmingham midfielder will presumably be expecting another good performance from his team.
