There is currently no indication that the Englishman intends to leave St James’ Park, but he is regularly linked with a move away.
With that being said, perhaps the Magpies should monitor some high-profile figures, including Smalling.

Smalling could potentially be up for sale due to his inconsistencies at the back, and the Magpies could get a reasonable deal given that he has just one year left on his contract.
